Expert: Prof. Dr. Norbert Vennemann studied physics at the University of Osnabrueck (Germany) where he received his Diploma degree in physics and his Doctor of Natural Sciences in 1983, and 1987, respectively. During his PhD studies he performed research on the influence of high pressure on thermodynamic and structural properties of polyoxyethylene by means of small angle neutron scattering (SANS) and other methods. Subsequently, he joined the Continental AG at Hanover (Germany) and became leader of the department R&D Co-ordination of Ma¬te¬rials Testing. In 1992 he was appointed as a Professor of polymer engineering and rubber technology at the University of Applied Sciences of Osnabrueck. His research interests are focused on development and characterization of elastomer com¬po¬sites as well as thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), in particular thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV). He is the inventor and owner of the patent of the Temperature Scanning Stress Relaxation (TSSR) test method, which has been successfully commercialised by Brabender® (Germany) and became standardized as ASTM D8363 in 2020. During his scientific career he collaborated with many scientists from Europe, USA and Asia. A very close partnership exists to Professor Charoen Nakason from Prince of Songkla University (Thailand). In 2017 he was awarded by Prince of Songkla University (Thailand) with the degree Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Rubber Technology. In 2019 Professor Vennemann retired officially, but he is still partially active in research and education, as well as a consultant. Currently, he is working in projects with topic of the development of dielectric elastomer actuators (DEA) and recycling of EPDM waste rubber. His scientific work includes about 90 papers, several patents and book chapters.
